Writer, screenwriter, and director, she has turned her passion for travel and books into her work. Always traveling the world, she loves to explore the places and characters she grew up with: from Sherlock Holmes and Jack the Ripper‘s mysterious and literary London, to Walter Scott‘s Scotland, and Miyazaki and Matsumoto’s Japan, which she toured extensively with Piero Angela during the filming of one of the nine Super Quark Specials she worked for as first assistant director. She recounts these experiences in her books and in her travel blog.
Born in Rome, she began her studies at the National Academy of Dance; she graduated from a a high school of languages and moved to the United States, where she specialized at the Alvin Ailey Dance Center and Step Studio in New York, lyrical jazz and ballet, while also studying English at New York University. She subsequently earned a second diploma from the Roberto Rossellini Institute for Cinema and TV and started working for cinema, radio, television, advertising and theater, for international and local productions: RAI, Columbia Pictures, Tri Star, Paramount, Filmmaster, VH1, Sky, the Cannes and Venice Film Festivals, and EBU. She graduated with honors in Foreign Languages and Cultures from the University of Roma Tre, and attended the MasterClass Online Classes in directing held by Ron Howard and the MasterClass Online Classes in screenwriting held by Shonda Rhimes.
Books: Between Sound and Images (Cinetecnica, 2005), dedicated to music and its close relationship with cinema, especially in horror movies; The Great Dictionary of Italian Song, Rizzoli (various authors), for which she edited 115 cards on children’s TV theme songs. Cartoon’s Life (book + DVD), Tunué 2012, based on the documentary she wrote and directed, which competed for the David di Donatello Awards and won the Jury Prize in America. Steam, Gears and Mechanical Dreams: Steampunk and the New Victorians, Nero Press Edizioni 2018. Between 2012 and 2014, a gothic rock opera written by her, Edgar Allan Poe, The Tale of a Man, is being staged at the Eliseo Theatre in Rome and on tour.
Director for Tv: Nel resto del Mondo, Rai International 2024, The Sound of Beauty – a journey behind the scenes, a thirty-minute special on the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, written and directed for Rai 1 and in competition at the BCT – National Film and Television Festival. Cinematografo (Rai 1 – 2022/2023 season), concerts, live and features for Rai. As an assistant/1st. assistant director, she worked on twenty documentaries for Rai 5, numerous live programs such as Uno Mattina (Breakfast Television), film and advertising.
Her documentaries have been screened at Lucca Comics & Games, Cartoons on the Bay, 16 corto film fest, Venus Intl. Film Fest in Las Vegas, Iad-Intl. Animation Day, and others.
